Project Summary
Existing literature in ILD epidemiology, behaviour and outcomes have primarily been focused among Caucasian populations. However, such studies have been rarely advocated and determined among the Asian region, due to a lack of resources, coordination and skillset development. In the last few years, there is growing interest in ILD, especially within the Asia-Pacific region. Yet, there is little data of the ILD burden in the Asia-Pacific region. ILD subtypes may differ by region. For example, sarcoidosis is common in the Caucasian countries, but less so in the other Asia-Pacific region. Resource constraints may also influence diagnosis and treatment practices in the various Asia-Pacific countries. Given that the Asia-Pacific region constitutes up to 60% of the world’s population, it is imperative that this void of data be filled. This will be a comparison of ILD epidemiology data across 9 Asia-Pacific countries/territories including Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Nepal, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.
