Fukuchi (Respirology) Award
We are pleased to announce the availability of two Awards for outstanding original research papers published in Respirology in the year preceding the APSR Congress, selected by a panel of world-renowned international researchers. This prestigious ‘Fukuchi Award’ was established in 2010 and is named in honour of Professor Yoshinosuke Fukuchi who was Editor in Chief of Respirology 1996–1999 and President of the APSR 2004–2006.
Following a generous donation by Dr Fukuchi in 2020, this Award is complemented with a grant each year until 2039.
All original research papers published in Respirology are eligible for the Award.
The papers are selected by an international expert panel – appointed by the journal’s Editor in Chief – which ranks the abstracts published in the preceding year for their novelty, importance, methodology, clarity and overall quality. A consensus on each of the two most outstanding original research papers is then obtained through a rigorous judging system. (Until 2020 there was just one award for the most outstanding original research paper.)
The Award
- US$500 (jointly funded by Dr Fukuchi and the APSR)
This will be passed to the awardee by the APSR Secretariat at the APSR Congress. - Congress registration
- Accommodation at the Congress
The accommodation will be for the length of the Congress (e.g. three nights for a four-day Congress) at a Congress-designated hotel. - Invitation to the Gala Dinner (or similar social event)
- An award certificate (prepared by the Respirology Editorial Office) will be presented to the author during the Gala Dinner’s award ceremony
Where the paper has more than one author, the $500, complimentary registration, accommodation, invitation to Congress social events and Wiley voucher, will be for one of the authors, selected by the paper’s senior author. The certificate will be in the name of all the paper’s authors. - Wiley voucher
