What do we do?
Mission
The Lung Cancer Assembly aims to develop, promote and share new knowledge, training and education for members to enhance their expertise in all aspects of lung cancer practice and research. To achieve these goals, the Assembly provides a platform for interaction between clinicians and researchers and ensures that educational and scientific needs are met during the APSR annual congresses.
Interests
The current Lung Cancer Assembly hot topics are genomic and molecular profiling of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), early detection including screening, plasma circulating tumour biomarkers, targeted therapies and immunotherapies and the positive impact on outcomes of effective smoking cessation. The current Assembly Head (Dr Sita Andarini) is interested in targeted therapy and immunotherapy in NSCLC and SCLC; the Head-Elect (Dr David Lam) is interested in molecular biology and therapeutics, biomarkers for early detection and screening for lung cancer, and the Deputy Head (Dr Pyng Lee) is interested in Lung cancer, early diagnosis, screening, multidisciplinary lung cancer care, smoking cessation, bronchoscopy, thoracoscopy, palliative interventions, bronchoscopic ablative therapies of early lung cancers.
Who should join
- Junior members who are keen to develop knowledge, establish and build contacts and networks, present research ideas, seek training opportunities and apply for funds.
- Senior members with vast experience wishing to share their knowledge, train and educate the next generation, build research collaborations and seek to represent the Assembly on international projects and sister societies.
- All who are keen to submit ideas for talks and presentations at future APSR annual congress Assembly symposia.
